August 1, 9:15 Worship at the Heights

Here's what we're singing this week. One song that has really resonated with our congregation this summer has been "Our God" by Chris Tomlin and Matt Redman. We introduced it at 9:15 two weeks ago and we'll sing it again this week. Check out the video link to here Chris and Matt describe the song writing process then even show the guitar chords and how they play it.

The Power of the Cross http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NfqyAaG91xMThis is a great live performance by Keith and Kristyn backed up by band and choir. What a great text!

Oh, to see the dawnOf the darkest day:Christ on the road to Calvary.
Tried by sinful men,Torn and beaten, thenNailed to a cross of wood.
CHORUS:This, the pow'r of the cross:Christ became sin for us;Took the blame, bore the wrath—We stand forgiven at the cross.
Oh, to see the painWritten on Your face,Bearing the awesome weight of sin.
Ev'ry bitter thought,Ev'ry evil deedCrowning Your bloodstained brow.
Now the daylight flees; Now the ground beneathQuakes as its Maker bows His head.
Curtain torn in two,Dead are raised to life;"Finished!" the vict'ry cry.
Oh, to see my nameWritten in the wounds,For through Your suffering I am free.
Death is crushed to death;Life is mine to live,Won through Your selfless love.
FINAL CHORUS:This, the pow'r of the cross:Son of God—slain for us.What a love! What a cost! We stand forgiven at the cross.

July 18, 9:15 Worship at the Heights

One of the by-products of putting the worship song lists out for this blog has been being able to enjoy creative offerings of this music that has been uploaded to youtube. There's certainly a vast worship resource sitting out there for anyone to use in their personal worship times. The variety is stunning... Just this week we go from from a handycam recording of David Crowder and his bandmates for an acoustic gig at Borders all the way to an Asian dance group with a great contemporary dance to "Here I Am to Worship." Throw in a little Dolly Parton singing an old hymn and then finish up with a mammoth worship experience from Hillsong in Australia. A trip around the world, and it didn't cost you anything.... Check it out and get a head start on your worship this week.

See you in worship - former Heights Pastor and resident funnyman Earl Craig is preaching at 9:15 this Sunday while Dr. Singleton is out.
